Lan Vu has over nineteen years of hands-on teaching experience in a variety of contexts, starting her career as a teacher of English at Le Quy Don Gifted High School, Nha Trang. She has experience in teaching English college composition to both native and non-native English speakers. In addition, she has taught special-topic courses that help students build practical English skills for general, academic or professional purposes, for example courses on IELTS/TOEFL/SAT/GRE preparation, Advanced Reading and Writing, Public Speaking, Business Writing, and Technical Writing.
Upon completing her Ph.D., Lan Vu founded EPAS, an English Center offering online English programs/courses, and established an Online Writing Center committed to helping writers develop their writing skills. At EPAS, she has designed and developed online courses, finding or even inventing new and creative ways to reach the target learners on the various levels on which they function. Lan often provides professional development training workshops (both online and face-to-face), whose beneficiaries are English teachers and English-major college students in Vietnam.
With advancements in emerging technology such as artificial intelligence, game-based learning, and adaptive learning, Lan and her project team successfully built two web-based ESL learning tools and an Android speaking practice app. These innovative English learning programs are expected to be a game changer in the field of ESL, providing a more effective and fun way to learn and practice English at the learners’ fingertips.
Throughout her academic career, Lan Vu has been passionate about doing research. Her research interests include, but are not limited to, teaching composition (both face-to-face and online), the meaningful integration of technologies in writing, digital writing and digital rhetoric.
